ALC Brahmans top at $16,200

Top priced bull ALC 16-2093, purchased by Keith and Roxy Holzwart, Avago Station, Northern Territory represented by Gary Wendt, (left) and Jason Jeynes (right) Ray White Livestock, Gracemere and vendor Alf Collins, Gundaroo, Nebo.

A clear sunny winters day put a shine on the ALC Brahman sale’s results for Alf and Louise Collins at their on property sale at Gundaroo, Nebo recently.

A total of 114 bulls were offered for a 100 per cent clearance, to gross $556,200, with a $4,879 average and a top of $16,200.

Top priced bull of the day was purchased by Keith and Roxy Holzwart, Avago Station, Northern Territory.

ALC 16-2093 was well sought after by many astute cattlemen chasing double poll genetics.

The Holzwart family run a Brahman herd and market their cattle for the live export industry. 

Second top priced bull, ALC 16-1755 went to Stanbroke Pastoral Company. 

ALC 16-1755 is the son of Allawah Barcoo with a puberty age of 16 months and a scrotal circumference of 39cm reached $13,500.

Alistair and Joanne McClymont, ATM Pastoral, Burleigh, Richmond, paid $13,400 for the third top priced bull.

The ALC draft of bulls were presented with detailed data from the Collins herd which included fertility & adaptation based on pregnancy, weaning rates and all within set time periods for strict production goals to be met. 

Other statistics provided include date of the dam's first calving, calving intervals, number of calves born and days to calving based on the time between a cow's first exposure to a bull and when she subsequently calved.

Each bull also had information on their EBV's plus age in months and kg live weight at puberty. 

Volume buyers included Heytsbury and Parraway pastoral companies, with many repeat buyers in attendance.
