Burenda Angus & Brangus,
Burenda Angus & Brangus
Dalby QLD 4405
The origins of Burenda Angus began in the Augathella district, where the Peden and Thiess families operated Burenda Holdings a large scale commercial beef and sheep operation in the 1990s. When the Augathella properties were sold the stud operation relocated to 'Dalby Downs' just north of Kaimkillenbun. The rolling inner western downs country that characterises the area provide the perfect venue to grow young bulls on a combination of forage crops and improved pastures of leucaena and grass for presentation for sale out of the paddock and at our Roma Angus Bull Sale on the 26th August 2015 and our Clermont Angus and Brangus Bull Sale on the 8th October 2015.
We run more than 800 Angus and 100 Brangus breeders with all females AI'd and then joined to stud sires naturally for a tight joining of 8 weeks including the AI. The fertility of the Burenda herd has improved tremendously with this program over the last 11 years with outstanding ptic results to AI and sires. 60-70% calving to AI is common with most cows calving in the first 3 weeks to AI and sires. We utilise semen from both the US and Australian sires that fit the Burenda herd characters. We have worked hard on improving our EBV's overall but in particular the rib and rump fat as this has great importance on the fertility and ability of animals to do well in all environmental conditions. Some of the latest AI sires include PA Power Tool, Var Reserve, Exar Upshot, S Chisum, Prime Juggernaut, Cheryldon Stewie, Te Mania Emperor, Sydgen CC&7, SAV Pioneer, SAV Thunder, and Connealy Mentor. We are proud to note that some of our home-grown sires Burenda Go Between G23, Burenda Geiger Counter G49, Burenda Hauki H40, Burenda Hammerhead H73 and Burenda J74 have also had a positive impact on our herd.
Our females are characterised by moderate frame size with excellent fertility and mothering ability. Simply put they are fertile, maternal, meaty matrons that are geared towards developing quality weaners that will fit into a number of different beef production systems.
When it comes to our sale bulls, we are looking to deliver powerful fertile sires that will provide our clients' herds with the improvements in fertility, marbling and meat quality that they are looking for.
